Dirna Bergstrom was founded in 1980 under the name Dirna, S.A. as a manufacturer of evaporative coolers for agricultural vehicles. At that time, the product was called Bycool. Very soon, the company began manufacturing air conditioning systems for all types of vehicles and has since become the leading company in Europe in the design of air conditioning equipment for industrial vehicles, specializing in the design and manufacturing of Parking Coolers.

In 2000, Dirna S.A. acquired Mitchell, S.A., a subsidiary of the renowned John E. Mitchell Co. (Dallas, USA), a pioneer in Spain in the development of air conditioning systems for vehicles. As an OE manufacturer of air conditioning systems, Mitchell, S.A. participated in supply projects for OEMs such as Renault (Chausson) and Ford (Almusafes). At the end of 2009, the two companies merged under the name Dirna, S.A.
